Incoming regional claims leader aims to rectify fact that ‘there is nothing at a pan-Asian level’

A member of the London-based energy, property/casualty claims team at Willis is heading to Singapore.

Neil Thomas will be taking up the newly created role of regional claims leader.

Thomas said that he plans to develop claims management across the region, with a particular focus on larger and strategic accounts.

“This is an exciting opportunity to start something new,” he said.

“We have big claims centres in the US and UK, but while we have some sector-specific claims expertise in the region, for example in Singapore and Hong Kong, there is nothing at a pan-Asian level.

“We also need to look at how we can better utilise our award-winning team in Mumbai within the Asia region.”

Thomas added that good claims management was vital to Willis’s business.

“For example, the Thai floods caused real headaches for some of our key clients, and at times like that we need to be there to guide them,” he said.

Thomas is due to take up the post in March and will report to the head of Willis Asia Adam Garrard.
