Singapore Masterclass: 26 August

Risk managers in Singapore will come together next month for a special masterclass on the fundamentals of implementing enterprise risk management (ERM) with ISO31000.

The first-of-its-kind event is being put on by the Risk and Insurance Management Association of Singapore (RIMAS) and will be held on 26 August at the Metropolitan YMCA in Singapore.

RIMAS board member Roland Teo said the event would see experienced risk practitioners impart their expertise and learnings throughout a series of sessions on ERM from implementation to getting buy-in from the board.

“In a traditional masterclass there’s usually either a consultant or a veteran [as one of the trainers], but this event is unique because all of the trainers are risk managers or practitioners,” he said.

Teo is chairman of the RIMAS events and conferences committee and said the event was aimed at risk managers that needed to update their fundamentals.

He added that the day was sponsored by the Nanyang Business School and supported by the Singapore Standards Council.

“The highlight of the day for risk managers is that they will get to hear case studies from experienced risk practitioners that will help them relate to their day-to-day job,” Teo said.

The event will also include a series of short exercises to assess risk managers’ learnings from each of the sessions, with  a RIMAS certificate of achievement awarded on completion.
