Eight risk management awards are up for grabs

Entry to StrategicRISK’s third annual Asia-Pacific Risk Management Awards is now open.

Risk practitioners can enter five award categories (see below), with the winners announced at a special gala cocktail reception at StrategicRISK’s annual conference held in Singapore in May 2019.  

There are also three specialist categories for individuals or companies that serve the risk community including Insurance Innovation of the Year and Broking Innovation of the Year.

StrategicRISK Asia-Pacific publisher William Sanders said, ”StrategicRISK has been celebrating innovation and excellence in risk management since 2003 and more than 100 organisations and individuals across Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Middle East have been recognised for their important contributions to the risk management industry.  The Asia-Pacific Awards are an important way to recognise and reward organisations and individuals who can demonstrate they have gone the extra mile in 2018 to introduce or improve their risk management strategies in the region.”

The Awards are independently judged by a panel of hand-picked risk experts with a new two-step judging process introduced in 2019.  All entries will be scored by a panel of sixteen judges to create the finalist shortlist.  In the second round of judging, finalists will be interviewed by a separate panel risk management experts.

The deadline for entering the Awards is 31 January 2019.  Shortlisted finalists will be announced in March 2019.

Award categories

The StrategicRISK Award
For risk management to become truly effective it must evolve from being operationally focused to become a tool that supports individuals and companies make better strategic decisions. The StrategicRISKAward recognises efforts in this area. The award is open to any individual or team that has made significant steps to embed risk into the decision-making fabric of their organisation in 2018.

Asia-Pacific Risk Manager of the Year 
This category is open to any individual who currently has responsibility for corporate risk and/or insurance management, and whose work during 2018 has made a significant difference to his or her organisation or the wider risk management community. The judges are looking for evidence of the individual’s strategic and operational thinking, effective leadership and planning, excellent communication skills and demonstrable results. The contribution and result should preferably be innovative as well as excellent.

Risk Management New Starter of the Year
This category is open to individuals at the beginning of their career in corporate risk and/or insurance management. The entrant must have worked in a corporate risk or insurance related role for five or less years on 31 December 2018. Judges are looking for an entrant that can demonstrate that they have contributed to the measurement, management and/or mitigation of risk at their firm. Organisation and planning skills, negotiating and influencing skills and excellent communication are all important attributes of an aspiring risk manager. Successful entrants will be able to provide evidence of one or more of these.

Asia-Pacific Risk Management Team of the Year
This category is open to risk/insurance management teams, consisting of at least two individuals, who achieved demonstrable success with one or more initiatives in 2018. Judges will look for evidence of team collaboration, effective communication and the use of clear planning to address a specific risk management challenge.

Risk Management Programme of the Year 
This category is open to any individual or organisation that has introduced or enhanced their risk management approach in 2018. Judges will look for evidence of how the risk programme has met the changing needs of your business, how it was effectively embedded within the organisation, and the business benefits of its implementation.

Asia-Pacific Insurance Innovation Award
This award is open to regional and global insurers that can demonstrate that they have developed an innovative risk and/or insurance product, solution or initiative that has significantly benefited one or more of their Asia-Pacific clients. Judges will look for evidence of how this product and/or service goes the extra mile to meet the specific needs of companies in Asia-Pacific. Measurable results and testimonials to support claims are important.

Asia-Pacific Broker Innovation Award
This award is open to regional and global brokers who can demonstrate that they have developed and implemented an innovative risk and/or insurance management product, solution or initiative that has significantly benefited one or more of their Asia-Pacific clients. Judges will look for evidence of how this product and/or service goes the extra mile to meet the specific risk or insurance needs of one or more of your clients. Measurable results and testimonials to support claims are important.

Risk Management Solution of the Year
This award is open to any individual or organisation that has developed or improved a risk management solution in 2018.  This could include but is not limited to solutions focused on: OHS, ERM, risk analysis, risk quantification, crisis management or decision-making. Judges will look for evidence of how your solutions meets the specific needs of risk managers in Asia-Pacific. Measurable results and testimonials to support claims are important. In no more than 1,000 words please outline:
