Scott Ryrie will bring decades of pan-Asian experience in risk management to the top job
The Risk Management Institution of Australasia (RMIA) has appointed respected risk guru Scott Ryrie as CEO.
Ryrie will bring decades of experience in risk management to the role, with an insurance and reinsurance career which has taken him to several countries, including Australia and Singapore.
Ryrie replaces Anthony Ventura, who has been acting CEO for the past three months, in addition to his role as RMIA president and chairman.
“I am delighted to welcome Scott to the RMIA family and positive he will bring a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm to the organisation,” said Ventura.
“With Scott’s leadership, fellow RMIA board members and I are excited for what the future holds.
“We are confident Scott will maintain and develop our keen focus on the needs of RMIA members and the development of the risk management profession,” added Ventura.
Ryrie has worked across all classes of the industry as a senior broker account executive, underwriter, manager and CEO. This includes roles with XL Re, Allianz Reinsurance, Guy Carpenter Asia Pacific, Ryrie Consulting and A.M Best Asia Pacific.
RMIA claimed in a statement on the appointment that Ryrie will bring an understanding of strategic planning, budgeting and reporting. It also praised Ryrie’s “extensive network” and abilities as presenter and speaker.
