Allianz

Allianz Australia will begin its search for a new managing director after it was revealed that Niran Peiris will move to Germany to take up a board-level position.

Peiris has been appointed to the Allianz SE board of management and will be based in Germany from 1 January 2018 until 31 December 2020.

Allianz Australia told StrategicRISK that work had ”commenced on appointing his replacement”.

Peiris has been with the insurer for 16 years in various management positions at Allianz Australia, where he has served as chief executive since 2013.

He will remain in the position until 31 December this year.

In his new role, Peiris will take over responsibility for the insurer’s property and casualty businesses in the group’s ‘Anglo’ markets (including Australia and New Zealand), the global insurance lines (including Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty), Russia, and the group’s commitment to ESG (environment, social and governance).

He replaces current board member Axel Theis who will move to take responsibility for the insurer’s german-speaking countries and Central and Eastern Europe.
