The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) welcomed two new international chapters from Nigeria and Papua, Indonesia
This raised the number of countries represented in the society to 72.
ASSE President Michael W. Thompson, CSP, of Houston, TX, said: "Safety, health and environmental (SH&E) professionals enable good and sustainable safety, health and environment performance. The resources ASSE provides its members on safety, health and environmental issues and the profession are invaluable. As more of our global members utilize this information and best practices we continue to expand our efforts to help prevent occupational injuries and illnesses in all marketplaces.
Other countries with ASSE chapters are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Western Australia. The U.K., Egypt and Ecuador have ASSE sections.
There are 49 ASSE members in Nigeria and 72 in Papua, Indonesia.
